Maria specialises in planning and environmental law, public law and energy and regulatory matters.
She regularly defends planning enforcement actions and environmental prosecutions and is very experienced in drafting and negotiating statutory agreements such as Article 40 Agreements, highways and sewer agreements. Maria has also successfully represented both applicants and respondents in judicial review proceedings and also advises the private and public sector on data protection and freedom of information matters.
In 1998, as part of the Washington Ireland Programme, Maria interned with the United States Environmental Protection Agency, sparking her interest in environmental law. Also through the programme, Maria worked for Hillary Clinton on her Vital Voices Conference in Belfast and studied for a year in the US.
