New Public Procurement Directives

April 16, 2014

On 23 March 2014 three new public procurement directives were published in the Official Journal of the European Union. The three new public procurement directives relate to:-

1. Public Sector
2. Utilities
3. Concessions

The directives were approved by the European Parliament on 15 January 2014 and by the EU Council on 11 February 2014. They were then published in the Official Journal of the European Union on 28 March 2014, coming into force on 17 April 2014. EU Member States have two years from 17 April 2014 to implement them into national legislation. Whilst traditionally the UK has implemented such directives towards the end of the two year period it is understood that the government is aiming to implement the directives as soon as possible and possibly as early as the autumn of 2014.

If you require any further information in respect of the new procurement directive please contact our Head of Procurement, Lisa Boyd.
