“House building in Northern Ireland in 2015 hits highest level since 2009

June 28, 2016

The National House Building Council (NHBC) have said that according to their figures, new home registrations have risen by 30% since 2009.

The property crash saw the number of new houses fall rapidly reaching a low point of fewer than 2,000 in 2012 compared to more than 7,000 new houses built in 2007. Separate figures show that Northern Ireland has lost more than one in four of its construction businesses since 2009.

The inter-departmental business register shows that between 2009 and 2015 the number of construction businesses fell by 3,295, being a decline of almost 27%.

It would appear that confidence in the new homes and housing market is being restored and we look forward to a busy 2016 ahead.
