Re-Gen & Cleaver Fulton Rankin go head to head for UTV Young Businessperson of the Year award

October 27, 2014

Over the past 8 years leading Belfast law firm Cleaver Fulton Rankin and recycling giants Re-Gen Waste have worked very closely. Cleaver Fulton Rankin Director, Lisa Boyd, and Re-Gen Waste’s Managing Director, Joseph Doherty, have a strong day-to-day business relationship but for once found themselves on opposing sides of the fence.

At last week’s UTV Business Eye awards, both Joseph and Lisa went head-to-head as nominees for the ‘Young Business Personality of the Year’ award at a glittering ceremony at the Culloden Estate. As one of the hottest categories of the evening, it was especially interesting for these two young business professionals. Joseph was victorious and took home the award on this occasion, but it won’t be the last time the pair go head-to-head at these glittering ceremonies.

Lisa commented, “I am honoured to be nominated for such an award and it is a privilege to be competing alongside Joseph who I work with closely on a day-to-day basis. Re-Gen Waste has expanded at an unbelievable rate and Joseph has been the driving force behind their success, so it is a well deserved victory for such a young businessman.”

On the acceptance of his award Joseph stated, “I am honoured to accept this award as I know first-hand the strength of the competition on this occasion. Lisa’s nomination didn’t come as a surprise to me as she is a leader in her field of work, always going the extra mile to provide us with a top quality legal service. ”

As Managing Director of Re-Gen Waste, Joseph Doherty co-founded the recycling superpower 11 years ago, spotting a gap in the market and guiding the business to the success it now enjoys. At 35 Joseph is now a highly respected Waste Industry entrepreneur leading a team of 160 staff in local and global markets. Joseph’s focus over the next few years will be on creating more jobs by: improving, developing and growing the Mixed Solid Waste processing side of the business, exploring new markets, and introducing new and refined logistics/engineering technologies.

Lisa Boyd is both Head of Cleaver Fulton Rankin’s Procurement team and Marketing Director. Lisa is therefore not only tasked with running the Procurement practice of the firm and her own legal files but also developing and co-coordinating marketing activities of the firm. Lisa was promoted to Director at the age of 31 due to her determination and hard work.  At 33, Lisa remains one of the youngest legal directors across Northern Ireland.
