Two Cleaver Fulton Rankin Solicitors elected to the NIYSA Committee

February 13, 2014

Cleaver Fulton Rankin Solicitors Timothy Rankin and Julie – Ann McCaffrey have been elected to the Northern Ireland Young Solicitors Association Committee.

The Northern Ireland Young Solicitors’ Association (NIYSA) was set up in 1984 as a formal network of young solicitors to help bridge the generation gap with the Law Society.

Every solicitor aged 36 or under is automatically a member of the NIYSA which endeavors to facilitate the interaction between young lawyers in Northern Ireland and those in other jurisdictions, throughout Europe in particular, and to provide education principally through its lecture series.

The Association’s affairs are managed by the NIYSA Committee to which Cleaver Fulton Rankin’s Associate Solicitor, Timothy Rankin has been elected as Vice Chair and Julie – Ann McCaffrey, Assistant Solicitor elected as Secretary.

As part of the Committee Timothy and Julie – Ann will work with the other elected members to represent the views of young solicitors in any matter of interest to them; to organise activities of an educational and social nature; to encourage contact with the other young solicitors’ Associations and with other professions and to maintain contact with the Law Society of Northern Ireland, the Institute of Professional Legal Studies, the Graduate School of Professional Legal Education and the European Young Bar Association.

Further to Timothy’s role on the NIYSA Committee, in June 2013 Timothy was elected to the Executive Committee of the European Young Bar Association, a not-for-profit, multinational young lawyers association founded in 1993 to encourage links between young lawyers throughout Europe
