The Control of Advertisements (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2009 came into force on 19 February 2009
These regulations will amend the Planning (Control of Advertisements) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1992 by introducing deemed advertising consent for advertisements on sites used for the preceding ten years or more for the display of advertisements without the required express consent.
The new Regulations bring the law in Northern Ireland in line with legislation in England and Wales. The Regulations have been welcomed by Cleaver Fulton Rankin and the Outdoor Media Association who had been lobbying hard for this change in the law.
